YASC West Virginia 2013

In June 2013 the Yale Alumni Service Corps took 40 volunteers to Charleston and Montgomery, West Virginia to work with College Summit as College Counselors and Writing Coaches to high achieving students in the western Appalachian region. Many of these students had difficult personal issues, lack of information, financial challenges or they were the first in their families to consider college.
At WVU Tech, they were given the college experience, taught leadership skills, counseled in the best college for them and coached to create a personal statement that will help them with their college applications. 
It was a deeply rewarding experience for all involved and one that we will not forget. Thanks to those who joined us and to those who we share the adventure through this video!
