Join YASC and Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC) for a unique virtual service project in the community of Serra Grande, Bahia that helps local business people. The project will consist of a series of monthly virtual meetings that combine business teaching and consulting in each session. The program is hosted by Industria Taboa, a local non-profit for micro-enterprises.
The Program
The clients will be four or five micro-enterprises such as clothing/apparel, food/bakery, custom handicrafts, massage therapist. The structure will be:
- A team of YASC volunteer consultants supported by UESC student translators for each business
- Curriculum will include general accounting, cash flow, financial markets, marketing, business strategy
- 4 sessions of 90 minutes
Consultant’s Role
As a consultant, you will contribute to the curriculum and be part of a break-out group to advise a specific business over the course of the program. YASC is excited to bring you this opportunity to make a difference for the community of Serra Grande.
First session is tentatively scheduled for December 1 (6pm Brazil time, 4pm Eastern US time) with other sessions to follow (details to be confirmed). We anticipate an overall commitment of four hours per monthly session.
Industria Taboa is a local non-profit that fosters community autonomy by supporting entrepreneurs, businesses, and civil society organizations with programs focused on economic and community empowerment.
