• When should I arrive?

You must arrive into New Delhi on (or before) July 31st 2014. We will stay in New Delhi on the night of the 31st and depart, by flight, for Jodhpur in the morning. If you arrive before July 31st, you are responsible for your own accommodations until the 31st.

  • Do I need special skills?

Special skills are not required for participation in the Service Program. Each project will involve a leadership team of volunteers with specialized knowledge in the project area. Project assignments will be based on a combination of volunteer interest, community needs, available space, and program logistics. We will hold an orientation session on April 27th in New Haven to facilitate project planning.

  • Are children allowed on the trip?

Families with children 10 and over are welcome and encouraged to attend. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children under 10 on the program. All children under 13 must have a parent participating in the same service project throughout the program.

  • What will the weather be like?

It will be hot! However, we are going shortly after the monsoons pass through the region and the temperature will have cooled down from the peak of the summer heat. The area is very dry and the lack of humidity makes the heat quite bearable. Most projects will be indoors and we will arrange for fans and plenty of water, as feasible. Make sure you bring a hat.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

Until March 1st, 2014, the $500 deposit is refundable. After this date, the deposit is non-refundable. Final payment is due by April 1st, 2014.

  • Do I need a visa?

US Citizens and citizens of most other countries require a visa to travel to India. Once you are registered, we will follow up with more information about how to apply.

  • What shots do I need?

Please consult with your own physician and refer to the CDC website for more information.
