FAQs

  • When should I arrive?

You must arrive into New Delhi on (or before) July 30th 2015. We will stay in New Delhi on the night of the 30th and depart, by flight, for Jodhpur in the morning of July 31st. If you arrive before July 30th, you are responsible for your own accommodations until the 30th.

  • Do I need special skills?

Special skills are not required for participation in the Service Program. Each project will involve a leadership team of volunteers with specialized knowledge in the project area. Project assignments will be based on a combination of volunteer interest, community needs, available space, and program logistics.

  • Are children allowed on the trip?

Families with children 10 and over are welcome and encouraged to attend. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children under 10 on the program. All children under 13 must have a parent participating in the same service project(s) throughout the program.

  • What will the weather be like?

The weather is hard to predict with any accuracy, but we can be certain that Rajasthan in August will be hot. The monsoon season typically hits the area earlier in the summer than we will be there, but if we happen to catch the tail end of the monsoons, we will benefit because the rains will cool down the area. Most projects will be indoors and we will have plenty of water on site. Make sure you bring a hat, breathable clothes, and closed-toed shoes.

  • What is the cancelation policy?

Until February 28th, 2015, the $500 deposit is refundable. After this date, the deposit is non-refundable. Final payment is due by April 1st, 2015.

  • Do I need a visa?

US Citizens and citizens of most other countries require a visa to travel to India. Once you are registered, we will follow up with more information about how to apply.

  • What shots do I need?

Please consult with your own physician and refer to the CDC website for more information.
